Music

At Yeading Infant and Nursery School, we ensure that music is an enjoyable learning experience as well as a creative opportunity for children to express themselves.

All children partake in Music through a variety of activities. Within the classroom environment children will explore rhyme, rhythm, tempo and pitch. They will also be introduced to a range of different musical styles such as Classical, pop and World music and are able to discover and use a selection of instruments to create their own compositions. We encourage our children to take a keen interest in learning an instrument and offer Tabla lessons at lunchtimes.

Parallel to our music curriculum we ensure our children are able to engage with music in a whole school/year group setting. We sing songs within every assembly and have a singing assembly once a week with our school Pianist. Furthermore, all of our class assemblies and Christmas concerts feature musical performances.

Children also have opportunities to take part in competitions and presentations outside the school in association with other Hillingdon Schools and the Hillingdon borough. This year some of our Year 2 Children were selected for the Yeading School’s cluster musical evening. They performed songs from the ‘Jungle Book’ at the Beck Theatre, which was a wonderful experience for all involved.
